Why Me?

Hello, my name is Jamie McClanahan.  In the summer of 2015 I met with a pastor friend who encouraged me to start a Pastors Fellowship to help meet the needs of pastors in Augusta County, Va.  I have since started the South River Pastor’s Blog and  meet with pastors one on one for mutual  encouragement.

I grew up the son of a preacher in western PA. In 2001 I graduated from Liberty University.  I spent time in NC and VA as an Associate Pastor over a span of 10 Years. I served as the Senior Pastor of Greenville Baptist Church, Greenville, VA from 2011-2016.  I am presently working as an elder and Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Family Care at Village Church, Churchville, VA.

I have been happily married since 2002 and I have two grade school aged kids. I have earned three Master’s degrees from Liberty University and I am currently finishing my doctorate.  I love Steeler Football, Penn State Football, Manchester United Soccer, and hiking and fishing in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I also blog regularly at

My story in ministry is marked by victory and defeat, heartbreak and heartache, fear and courage, guilt and victory, and shame and joy. Every area of my personal and private life has suffered and benefited from serving the Lord in ministry.  A few years ago, due to conflict and fatigue, I suffered a deep burnout in ministry.  My relationship with God and other Pastors is what drew me up from the darkness and sorrow.  My prayer is that developing a group of pastors to support each other will help prevent and heal pastors from burnout.
